Worship by the Waves 19.4.23

In Worship by the Waves today we thought about rocks and stones and how stone is all around us.  Our school is build from stone, we walk on paving stones, there are rocks in the soil and lots on the beach!  We all found a stone to hold.

In the Bible stones and rocks are very important in different  ways.  We read some verses from the Bible that talk about stones:
Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.

David sang to the Lord, ‘The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.

David said, ‘I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet upon a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

The devil said to Jesus, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.’ Jesus answered, ‘People don’t live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

Jesus said, ‘You are Peter and on this rock I will build my church.’

On Easter Sunday, when the women looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.

We made our stones into cairns while we thought about the Bible verses.

We ended with a prayer and sand 'Allelu, Allelu, Allelu, Alleluia, Praise ye the Lord'.
