Headteacher's Message
Welcome to our school! We hope that you enjoy perusing our pages and find out all about us.
We think we are really great and can offer your child an amazing primary experience, but what makes us really special is that the whole school spends each Friday at Beach School. We use our natural environment for a range of activities and lessons, at the same time fostering a love of nature and our local surroundings. We are passionate about learning outdoors, and strongly believe in the importance of our children experiencing the wonder and beauty of their surroundings in such a special part of Northumberland. Please look at the Beach School tab above to see what we have been getting up to.
We are a Green Flag with Distinction Eco-School, and hold a School Games Gold Award.
As part of our commitment to our values, we foster a strong partnership approach between home and school to support individual learning, helping all children to fulfil their potential in all areas. We believe it is vital that as parents/guardians you feel welcome in the school, and provide numerous opportunities for you to be involved in your children’s learning.
Embleton Vincent Edwards C of E Aided Primary school have hardworking, committed staff, with a very supportive and dedicated Governing Body. Our Parent and Friends Association, Friends of Embleton School, is incredibly proactive, helping us with fundraising events. All parents/guardians are encouraged to take part in organising or attending events.
As a C of E school, we belong to a cluster of local church primary schools, as well as the wider Alnwick Partnership of schools. The children mix during joint sports and other planned activities, as well as events at the Duchess Community High School, to support transitions for the older children. The school has recently consulted on becoming an academy and is currently undergoing the process of joining the PELE Trust.
As a small school we are able to offer true personalised learning for all our children in a welcoming, family environment, where children of all ages regularly work and play together.
We offer after-school clubs Monday-Thursday. We also offer a wraparound facility to all our children, from nursery to Year 6. This service is available every day that the school is open - from 7.30 am until school starts; and from the end of school until 5.30 pm (6 pm by discussion with the headteacher).
Our nursery children are welcome in school from their 3rd birthday, through funded and unfunded places. We can offer places to children who are due to be 3 that term, as long as we have the staffing to do so. We are very flexible offering from 3-30 hours per week. Nursery children work together with the children from the Reception year group in our outstanding Early Years class - Starfish Class. All nursery children are welcome to join us for our beach school day each Friday. Nursery children are also welcome to use our wraparound facility, and can use funded hours to access it if appropriate.
The school has an open door policy for new and existing parents, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you require a visit, information or have any queries.
If you would like paper copies of any information on the website, please ask at the office.
