Starfish

At beach school today, we completed another one of our Star Crest Challenge award activities.  We listened to a story about two children who go on an animal adventure to find some minibeasts.  We decided that the sand on the beach wasn’t the best place to look for minibeasts so we went on our own adventure in the sand dunes.  First, we climbed up the steps to the top.  We then used some special scoop tweezers to pick up our minibeasts.  We made sure that we were very careful so that we didn’t harm them.  We found snails, worms, slugs and woodlice.  We put them in pots and looked at them with magnifying glasses.  Some of us made a list of what we had found.  We made sure that we returned out minibeasts to where we had found them.

We then walked to the bird hide to have our snack.  On the way we saw a frog! After our snack we went inside the bird hide.  We had to be very quiet so that we didn’t scare the birds.  We saw some Canadian geese and a pair of herons.
