Orcas

A very different weather week in comparison to last week and can you believe we are still in January!

We began with Worship by the Waves some of the Orca children - Lewis, Raffi, Zach, Charlie, Polly, Oscar and Lilyrai had a part in the worship too and read very clearly and in front of the whole school and some of the visitors which we had at Beach School today too.

After that, we paced out our track for our cross country, the goal as always is for the children to build stamina, learn about pace and how to pace themselves and to try and improve their previous score from the week before - or two weeks in our case- eventually we will plan a route and complete a course.

Following on, we then caught our breath and listened to the next chapter of The Explorer - this time we began to learn more about the character Con, discovering her back story and investigating why this may have affected the way in which she behaves. The children then completed a diary entry as the character, using some great emotive language and really becoming the somewhat grumpy character.

In Geography we have been learning about why oceans are important, we are very fortunate to be so familiar with the sea and the natural environment around us, however, there is always a way in which we can help preserve and support it. After a discussion of strategies we then investigated the rockpool area and used an identification key.
