Starfish

We read the story of ‘Stone Boy and the Girl’ by Sally Hopgood.  Noticing that a pebble looked as if it had a smiling face, a little girl added other pebbles and some seaweed hair to make a boy entirely of stone.  When she goes in for her dinner Stone Boy came to life and had an adventure.

After listening to the story we drew our own stone boy pictures and labelled them.  We then collected lots of stones and created our own stone children.

For our maths today drew big numbers in the sand and walked around them.  We then did some carefully counting and some children did some work on one more and one less.

Before we went to the golf club for lunch we did some yoga.  It was quite tricky doing the tree pose standing on one leg on the sand!

After lunch we went back to the beach and listened to the story again.  We then tried to recreate the sandcastle in the story.
