Orcas

Our first beach school for the summer half term and the weather did not disappoint. Our session began with Mrs Popay’s worship session. After that, Orcas began with Maths - this week we have begun investigating angles, the children are able to identify different sized angles with their names. Working in pairs the children were able to represent angles using different resources.

Moving on, we continued with Goodnight Mr Tom and the chapter was rather exciting, filled with wonderful food and the meeting of new characters. The children wrote a diary entry from Willie’s perspective of this fun day!

Next, we moved to PE. Now we are looking at athletics, this week concentrating on throwing, the children began working in teams and practicing their underarm throw, then moving to overarm throwing and then a mix of both under and overarm during a partner activity.

Next week we will be back to full days at the beach. Please do ensure that children are weather appropriate ie sun hat and suncream (for own personal use).

Starfish

This week we read the story Fidgety Fish by Ruth Galloway.  In the story Tiddler was always fidgeting. He wriggled and squiggled, until his mum told him to go out and swim till he was tired. So Tiddler swam out into the deep sea, where he met limpets and jellyfish, he went further till he reached a big, dark cave which happened to be ‘Big Fish’!

After listening to the story we wrote some words and sentences to describe what Fidgety Fish looked like.  We then did some digging in the sand and had our snack.  After snack we went for a walk to the rocks.  We looked in the rock pools to see if we could see any sea creatures but they were all hiding!

In todays story the crab makes a ‘clickety clack’ sound.  We collected shells and made our own clickety clack sounds.  Before we went up to the golf club for our lunch we played some counting maths games.
