Worship by the Waves 11.10.24

This week in worship we have been focusing on the Christian value of Respect.  At the beach today we listened to the story of Elijah and the widow from Zarephath.  We discussed what the characters might have learnt at the end of the story.  We decided that Elijah would have learnt a lot more about trusting God, the widow learnt that that even if people didn't have much respect for her, God loved her and had a plan for her and the son learnt that even though he was hungry God had taken care of him and his mum.  We then discussed what we had learnt from the story.  We said that we should treat everyone we meet with respect, that if we remember to treat people we meet with respect they are more likely to treat us with respect and that we should remind ourselves that each of us is a unique person and of infinite value to God.  In our reflection time we made bread just as the widow in the story made bread for Elijah.

We finished our worship with singing 'Be Bold, Be Strong' and a prayer.
