This week we have been listening to the Easter story. We have heard different versions of the story. Easter is also a time when we have Easter eggs and people think about bunnies and chicks.

We had a few children that completed all their Rainbow Challenges and Gold Challenge this week. Well done!
In RWInc the Reception children have read the purple ditty book ‘Elvis’ and have continued to recap all the Set 2 sounds. Some of the nursery children have been learning about the sound ‘k’ and have been playing initial sound and spelling games. The other nursery children have continued to play sound games, making different sounds for the story of ‘The Enormous Turnip’.
In maths the Reception children have been recapping this terms learning by doing some Easter related maths. The nursery children have been learning about heavier and lighter and using the language heavy, light, equal, weigh and balance. Some nursery children have been comparing amounts and lengths.
In Science this week we have been looking at different types of transport. We spoke about the different types of transport that we have travelled on. Some of us then designed our own, using our imaginations. With Miss Murray we continued to focus on listening really carefully. This week we did a treasure hunt to find some Easter eggs!
Our big RE question this half term is ‘Why do Christians put a cross in an Easter garden?’. This week we got to make our own Easter gardens with flowers, crosses and an empty tomb with the stone rolled away. We also made some yummy hot cross scones. The cross reminds us of the cross on Good Friday.
Starfish star of the week was Daisy. She completed all her Rainbow Challenges again this week and has done some fabulous writing this week.
Next term we start our new theme ‘Let it Grow’. Our first book will be ‘Sam Plants a Sunflower’ by Kate Petty.
