Some children completed all their Rainbow Challenges this week and did their Gold Challenge.  Well done!

In RWInc the Reception children have read the purple ditty book ‘Tim and Tom’ and have continued to recap all the Set 2 sounds.  Some of the nursery children have been learning about the sound ‘o’ and have been playing some initial sound games.  The other nursery children have been playing a repeating sound games and listening to different sounds in the story.

In maths the Reception children have been identifying 2d flat shapes in 3d solid shapes.  The nursery children have been continuing to learn about taller and shorter and some nursery children have been combining two numbers up to five. We have also been moving cars in different directions and putting them over, under, next to, in front and behind different things in the classroom.

This week in music, as part of our ‘Musical Stories’ we used instruments to represent actions of our morning routine to make our own musical story composition.  We completed the last challenge for our Star Quest Award.  We investigated some different types of materials to see which made the best hanky.  With Miss Murray we continued to focus on listening really carefully.  We had a brilliant time completing an obstacle course in the hall.

‘Cars Galore’ is a great book with so many different types of strange cars.  This week we made some patterns with pens on the back or cars, we looked at different cars in the book and compared similarities and differences and spoke about our favourite car giving reasons for our choices.

Our big RE question this half term is ‘Why do Christians put a cross in an Easter garden?’.  This week we though about new life.  We listened to the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and then went outside to look for signs of new life.  We also had a visit from some five day old lambs this week.  They were very cute!

Starfish star of the week was Ned.  He is doing a fabulous job of remembering the sounds we are learning.

Next week is our last week of our theme ‘On the Move’.  Our story will be ‘Toot and Pop’ by Sebastien Braun.
