We continued with the  story ‘The Everywhere Bear’ by Julia Donaldson this week.  In the story the Everywhere Bear has a wonderful time with the children in Class One, but one day he gets more than he bargained for when he falls unnoticed from a backpack and embarks on his own big adventure.

Our Rainbow Challenges this week have continued to be related to this story.

We had a good week with five children completing all their Rainbow Challenges and gold challenge – well done!

In RWInc the Reception children have read the pink ditty book ‘Sanjay stays in bed’ and have been learning the sounds ‘ai’ and ‘ew’.  Some of the nursery children have been learning about the sound ‘h’ and have been playing initial sound and rhyming games.  The other nursery children have been learning about firefighters and have been playing sound games and activities related to this.

In maths the Reception children have been learning about doubles.  The nursery children have been learning about taking away.  Some nursery children have been learning about circles and squares.

In PSHE this half term we are learning about ‘My Wellbeing’.  This week we have been finding out about what exercise is and why it is important.  In Science this week we have been learning about different types of vegetables.  Our music theme is ‘Big Band’ and this week we have been learning about what makes an instrument. We had great fun exploring different instruments and playing along to a song.

Our big RE question this half term is ‘Why is the word ‘God’ special to Christians?’.  This week thought about how Christians show thanks for the world.  We went on a litter pick to help look after our village.

This week we have also been making ‘The Everywhere Bear’ story maps and sequencing pictures from the story.

Next week our story will be ‘Immi’ by Karin Littlewood.
