We have made it!!!  Well done Everyone.  What a year we have had; full of fun, laughter and most importantly hard work.  I am so proud of each and every one of you and all you have achieved.  Good luck to the Year 2s moving on to Seal class.   You are all ready for the next challenge and you are going to have so much fun – don’t forget us Puffins though!

The main excitement this week has been our trip to Seahouses to carry out our geography fieldwork.  After attempting to go last week, which was cancelled due to the weather, we finally managed to get this week.  And what fun we had.  The weather was kind to us; the sun even making an appearance for us.  We parked the bus, kindly driven by Mrs G, at the social club car park and we straight away got down to collecting the data.  As we walked from the club into Seahouses we counted houses, churches and the different shops we saw.  We then stopped in a safe place in order for a group of us to do a traffic survey while the others carried on further down the street to do some public questionnaires.  I was impressed with the children’s manners when speaking to members of the public.  We met up with the Orcas for lunch as they had been on their boat trip.  We heard all about the animals they had saw – and they showed us the videos of the pod of dolphins that followed them.  Amazing!  After lunch we carried on collecting data; with different groups doing traffic surveys and public questionnaires.  I was so pleased with the children who managed to step out of their comfort zone in order to speak to the public.  We took all the information back to school in order to turn into bar charts and diagrams and do some comparisons with.  We were using it to see if trends have changed in people’s holidays.

Another big project which we did this week was our paper art work sculptures.  We had already designed our animal and practised some of the techniques needed in previous weeks but now we had to put it all into practice in order to finally make our models.  We worked together in our groups to make our animal sculpture, with a small amount of adult support.  We then spent another day painting and decorating them to make them look more realistic.  We were so pleased with our results and Miss Murray was impressed with our teamwork skills!  Well done.

I hope you all have a lovely summer break and come back feeling nice and refreshed in September.  I cannot wait to hear all about your holiday adventures.

Stay safe and have lots of fun!

Miss Murray
