This our story has been ‘How to Find a Fruit Bat’ by Michelle Robinson.  In this story a young girl heads out on an expedition to find a fruit bat. After all, who better to eat all the fruit that she doesn't want to eat? She gets her cardboard box boat ready, packing it with everything she'll need (including fruit for the fruit bat). On her expedition, she runs into all sorts of excitement and adventure, then sails home in time for supper.

In maths this week the Reception children have been learning about subtraction.  The Nursery children have been learning about more than and fewer than.

This week in Read, Write Inc. the Reception children have been learning about same sound but different spelling.  Some of the Nursery children have been learning the sounds g, o, c and  k  and the other Nursery children have continued to focus on listening games.

On Wednesday we played lots of games with Sam from Newcastle United Foundation.  We love playing chasing games and looking for spaces to run to.

Our music theme this half term is ‘Transport’.  This week we listened to some boat music.  We identified which was suited to a rowing boat, a cruise boat and a speed boat.

Our RE theme this half term is ‘Special Stories’.  We did our RE at beach school again this week.  We listened to the Christian story of Joseph.  We learnt that this story is tells us about compassion and forgiveness.

This week we have also written about facts about bats, designed our own transport and tasted different types of fruit.  This week we have been leaning the poem ‘Bats, Bats’.

Edie was our Starfish star of the week this week because she had written an amazing Helicopter Story.  Well done Edie!

Next week we will continue with our story  ‘How to Find a Fruit Bat’ by Michelle Robinson.
