Our story this week has been ‘Ten Little Superheroes’ by Mike Brownlow.  In the story ten little superheroes are on a mission to save the city.  One by one the superheroes disappear but eventually they find they have the super-powers to defeat evil villain Monstro and his dastardly League of Bad Guys.  There were lots of rhyming words and counting from ten to one as well as some great sound words.

Our Rainbow Challenges this week have been related to the story:

All the Reception children completed their challenges– well done everyone!

In RWInc the Reception children have been learning the sounds ss and zz.  We have been practising reading and writing words using the sounds we know.  The nursery children have been focusing on sounds we can hear around the house.

In Music this week we have been exploring instrumental sounds.  We put sounds to the story ‘There was an old lady who swallowed a fly’ and used our instruments to try and keep the beat to some nursery rhymes.  In PE with Sam we played some tag games and then played a game where we pretended to be cars.  On Tuesday afternoon Mrs Brealey comes into Starfish class and this week we learnt about different body parts.  We went outside and sat quietly and drew what we could hear.   Our poem this week was ‘A Little House’  and what a great job the children did of learning it!  We are so proud of them.

Our RE question this week was ‘Where do you belong? Which groups do some religious people belong to?’.  We read the story ‘Peace at Last’ and spoke about who was in the Large family.  We spoke about different groups that we belong to swimming, dancing, cricket, pony club and Squirrels and thought about different logos and symbols relating to these.  We learnt that some people wear religious symbols to show they belong to their worldview.  We created some using playdough.

Starfish star of the week was Bea.  She has been super helpful especially at beach school.

Next week we will continue with our story ‘Ten Little Superheroes’ by Mike Brownlow.
