Lots of children completed all their Rainbow Challenges this week and did their Gold Challenge.  Well done!

In RWInc the Reception children have read the purple ditty book ‘Big Blog and Baby Blog’ and have been recapping all the Set 2 sounds.  Some of the nursery children have been learning about the sound ‘g’ and have been playing some initial sound games.  The other nursery children have been playing a listening bingo game, making different noises for the story have been playing a listening and repeating game.

In maths the Reception children have been learning about 3d solid shapes.  The nursery children have been learning about long, short, taller and shorter and some nursery children have been learning about pairs. We have also been making cars using 2d shapes.

This week in music, as part of our ‘Musical Stories’ we used instruments to represent actions in a story.  We used the book ‘We’re Going on a Bear.  We completed one more challenge for our Star Quest Award.  We explored some different types of sand timers and then investigated how to make our own.  We tried different ways of making the sand flow faster and slower.  With Miss Murray we continued to focus on listening really carefully.  We played a whispering game where we had to listen very carefully to each other.

We have really enjoyed reading ‘Cars Galore’ and this week we made a huge map with different roads  just like the roads in the book.  We also made a list of as many different parts of a car that we could think of and then the Reception children labelled the parts of a car.

Our big RE question this half term is ‘Why do Christians put a cross in an Easter garden?’.  This week we found out a bit more about Easter.  We leant about what some people do to people celebrate Easter.

Some children enjoyed a visit to the mobile library this week and chose some more books to read in class.

Starfish star of the week was Emma.  She did some fabulous writing as part of her Rainbow Challenge this week.

Next week we will continue with our story ‘Cars Galore’ by Peter Stein.
