This week started with us doing some drama to go alongside our class text.  We put ourselves in Lazlo’s shoes and did a conscious alley of his thoughts and feelings.  There were some really good answers and some really good thinking about what we have already inferred from the text.

In maths, for the Year 2s, they were looking at lines of symmetry both in shapes and everyday objects.  For the Year 1’s they were thinking about patterns both with shapes and colours.

In Computing on Monday, we were once again using the Indi’s.  Miss Murray set us some challenges.  The first one was to see if we could use the correct coloured tiles to make the indi go around in a square.  Once we had mastered that we had to try and use the correct coloured tiles to make it go in a figure of 8.  This proved much trickier and we will continue with this one next week.  For PE this week we were thinking of ways to link all of our dance movements together to make a composition.  Next week we are going to add music to it.

On Tuesday, in science, we were carrying out a science experiment to test materials to see how suitable they were in the wind.  We had to use all the resources available in the classroom to build a house.  We then tested it with a hairdryer to simulate the wind.  We had some fairly strong structures.  We discussed what made a strong structure and how the ones that fell down could be reinforced.  We established that firm foundations were the key to a structure surviving the wind.

We have also done our big maths tests and welcomed the starfish into class to explore the indi’s.  Puffin’s were very good teachers and had lots of fun teaching the starfish about coding.

STAR OF THE WEEK this week was BENJI.  Benji has been trying hard with his phonics and maths.  Well done Benji.

BIG MATHS promotions this week go to; EDWIN and JESSIE.  Great work to you both.

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe in the storm,

Miss Murray & the Puffin Team!
