In RWInc the Reception children have read the pink ditty book ‘Tab the cat' and have been learning the sounds i_e, u_e.  Some of the nursery children have been learning about the sound ‘b’ and have been playing initial sound and rhyming games.  The other nursery children have continued to play sound games identifying and making different sounds.

In maths the Reception children have been learning about more complex patterns.  The nursery children have been learning about counting out objects and things that can’t be moved. Some nursery children have been continuing to learn about sequencing and have been sequencing stories.

Our Science this half term is ‘Plants’.  This week we have been learning about plants and where they come from.  This week we looked at how our sunflowers are growing and were really excited to see that some have some green shoots, just like Sam’s sunflowers in our story.  We also planted some cress seeds this week.  We planted them in pots with our faces on so that when the cress grows it will look like we have crazy hair!

Our big RE question this half term is ‘Which stories are special and why?’.  This week we heard the story ‘Noah’s Ark’ which is a special story for Christians.  We listened to some songs about the story, matched pairs of animals, played with a Noah’s Ark and some children wrote lists of the animals.

Next week our story will be ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ by Vivian French.
