Autumn 1 Week 3

This week in Orca class has been a full week packed with learning. We are continuing to explore the exciting book Holes by Louis Sachar, we have investigated the main plot and are now moving to the sub plot of the book - it is getting VERY exciting!

In Maths year 6 children start the session with SATs practice questions, either Arithmetic or Reasoning and Problem Solving, whilst year 5 complete their guided teaching after the year 5 teacher input year 5 have tasks to complete via Maths Shed and year 6 begin their teacher input session and then move to their tasks. This is a new way of teaching Maths in Orca class and we have found that the SAT input does help year 6 and the year 5 children are able to transition to the next part of their lesson seamlessly and with no fuss. Good job Orcas!

In History we have been continuing with Crime and Punishment, this week exploring the Anglo Saxon time period, comparing it to the previous time period of the Romans and how the two differ.

Orca children came home with their topic homework for the half term on Monday.
