This week in Seal Class, we have embarked on an exciting exploration of Ernest Shackleton's incredible journey to Antarctica. We learned about the challenges he faced and the human features of this stark yet beautiful continent, drawing meaningful comparisons to our lives here in the UK. By using four grid reference points, we mapped Shackleton’s arduous journey, which provided us with a practical understanding of navigation and geography.

Additionally, we engaged in a creative writing task where each student wrote a postcard in French to introduce themselves. This activity allowed us to apply the vocabulary we have studied this half-term, reinforcing our language skills while providing an opportunity for personal expression.

In mathematics, we have begun focusing on addition and subtraction, which has prompted lively discussions and practice activities.

In English, we delved into character exploration by inferring how various characters may feel through role-play, specifically stepping into the shoes of Dug and Dugs. This has not only enhanced our understanding of character development but has also fostered empathy within our classroom.

Lastly, in our PSHE lessons, we covered the qualities of a good friend, engaging in scenario-based role play to navigate different social situations. This engaging approach has encouraged thoughtful discussions about friendships and conflict resolution.

This week's Star of the Week is Emily H for her hard work on TTRS.
