Thank you to everyone who came and spoke to me at parent consultations.  It was lovely to discuss your child’s progress and tell you all how wonderful they are.  Also thank you to those who could join us for parent lunch.  Always a treat to have you in to enjoy Mandy’s delicious lunch.  Watch out for the next one!

In the classroom this week we began to read our book ‘Hummingbirds’ by Nicola Davis.  We read some facts about hummingbirds and made some observational notes and ideas on the characters and the setting of the book.  We heard that the Granddaughter lives in New York so we located it on a world map and talked about its size in comparison to the UK.  We discussed what kind of climate it might have, linking it to our geography knowledge of the equator.

In Maths we carried on with money; this week comparing amounts, selecting the correct coins and finding the difference between amounts.

We had Sam in again on Wednesday for our PE session, this week teaching us all about attacking and defending and the skills we need for these.  In computing we carried on with presentations.  This week we were learning how to change the background colour, how to add a text box and write in it as well as reminding ourselves how to change the font.  We looked at some abstract art this week with a focus on maps.  We then had a go at recreating our own abstract maps using different coloured paper.

STAR OF THE WEEK this week went to ELEN!  Great job Elen.

BIG MATHS PROMOTIONS went to FEDIR, JOSEPH and ARCHIE.  There was also DOUBLE promotion for ELIJAH!  What fabulous results everyone.

Have a lovely weekend – enjoy the football if you are watching it.
