25/10/24

Finally we have made it to the end of the first half term back.  Well done to everyone for their continued hard work and for everyone’s support with their child’s learning at home.

This week we have been finishing off our class text ‘Mini Rabbit Not lost’ and finding out what happened in Mini Rabbit’s determined search for berries.  He eventually found some berries but after all that searching he decided that he didn’t want any cake and he would settle for ice cream instead!  I am sure many parents have felt Mother Rabbits pain!

In maths we have began looking at addition strategies.  We have been using pictorial representations to help us add a 2 digit number with a 1 digit number.  This is especially helpful to visualise when bridging over ten.

On Monday afternoon we had our Sam PE session where we played some of our favourite games for our last session this half term as well as doing some autumnal road safety seeing as the clocks are changing this weekend.  We talked about the best clothing to wear to be seen on dark nights.  We carried out an investigation to find out which colour hiz-vis jacket would be best to wear.  Our investigation concluded that green was the best colour.  In design technology on Tuesday we were testing the strength of different shapes in order to inform our chair designs.  We were surprised to discover that a cylinder was the strongest shape.  On Thursday, in history, we shared the results of our homework questionnaires where we were asking our parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles about what kind of holiday’s they went on.  We concluded that in the past not many people went on an aeroplane and we discussed the reasons for this.

STAR OF THE WEEK this week was FEDIR.  Fedir has got 10/10 in his big maths tests for the last 6 weeks!  Well done Fedir!

Promotions in Big maths this week go to; LUCY, LIAM D, EDWIN, ELIJAH and ANNA.  We also had double promotions for JESSIE and WILLIAM.  Brilliant work everyone!  Keep working hard.

Have a lovely half term and please stay safe.  Remember ‘BE BRIGHT BE SEEN’
