Another busy week in Puffin class.  On Monday we started off by doing some independent story writing.  Miss Murray was impressed with the way we concentrated.  On Monday we also did some more of our Great Fire of London dance in PE.  This week we were pretending to be the flames spreading across the city destroying the houses.  We saw some wonderful flickering flames.  In computing we introduced some more coloured tiles into the mix with the indi car.  Our job was to work out what each tile did.  We worked out that the red tile made the car stop, the yellow car made the car slow down, the blue square made the car turn right and the pink square made the car turn left.  We then investigated what patterns we could make with the tiles.

Tuesday saw us carrying out a science experiment to test how waterproof materials were.  We made our predictions before we started the experiment, carried out the experiment then looked at the results to see if we were correct or not.  We were surprised at the results – especially how waterproof the paper was.  We discussed whether or not we thought this was an accurate experiment or whether we would need to do more testing before coming to our final conclusions.  We all decided that more testing was necessary in order to get a more accurate set of results.  In maths on Tuesday the Year 1s were sorting and classifying 2D and 3D shapes and the year 2s were using the geoboards to made 2D shapes.

In Design technology this week we were investigating the best materials to use for the wheel part of our fairground wheel.  We also investigated what we could use to make the axle.  At the end of the session we discussed any problems we overcame such as making the hole for the axle too big.

STAR OF THE WEEK this week was ELIJAH!  Elijah has been trying so hard with his writing and making sure he used his phonics to help him spell words correctly!  Well done Elijah.

BIG MATHS promotion this week goes to ELIJAH.  Super job – keep it up!

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Murray & the Puffin Team!
