The highlight of the week has definitely got to be our harvest festival on Thursday.  I was so proud of all the Puffin’s for standing up and reading the prayers so beautifully!  It takes a lot of courage to stand up and speak in front of lots of people and they were not fazed – Brilliant job!

We also enjoyed the musical recital by Sophie and Stephen Orton.  They brought along their cello and violin and played some pieces for us.  They also answered our questions about the instruments.

This week, in English, we have been learning how to use adjectives and conjunctions in order to make our sentences more interesting.  We began by using the conjunction ‘and’.  In maths we have been carrying on using the more than and less than symbol and ordering and comparing numbers.  Sam introduced us to some balls skills in PE and in History we were using photographs as a source. In RE we thought about the question ‘How have some people shown they cared?’  We found out about lots of things that Mother Teresa did to show that she cared.  Belief in God inspired Mother Teresa to care for others in exceptional ways.  She was good at helping others to care too.  It was her belief that inspired her to do the things she did. She was a great encourager.  We made posters using some of her famous quotes.  We were looking at how holidays have changed over the years and comparing it to any holidays or day trips we have been on.  In PSHE we were thinking about what makes a good friend and making a wanted posters for our new friends.  Many of the children wanted friends who were kind, funny, loving and honest.  We linked these values to our school’s Christian values and Embleton Expects.

Puffin STAR OF THE WEEK this week was ANNA!  Anna has been great at using the correct vocabulary in maths.  Well done Anna.

Big Maths promotions this week went to:  ELEN!  Keep up the good work!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
