The weeks are flying by – can’t believe we are in week 4 already!  Half way through this half term.

This week we have been busy making Christmas cards (I know, far too early but they need to go away to be made into cards for you to buy!)  We went through the process step by step so it really challenged them to listen carefully to each step.  This also practised our fine motor skills with the intricate details that needed to be cut out.

In English we carried on using the pictures to help us understand the story better.  We used view finders to look at small sections of the pictures to see if it gave us any more clues about Mini Rabbit.  We then thought about adjectives to describe the place where Mini Rabbit lives with his Mum.  We also completed a reading comprehension about butterflies.  In Maths we have been comparing groups of objects or numbers using the correct mathematical vocabulary.  We used greater then, less than, fewer and greater.  We also wrote these as stem sentences too.

Our History lesson was looking at our holiday memories or day trip memories and realising that these are part of history as they are in the past!  In RE this week our question was 'What do other religions say about caring?'.  We looked at the Jewish idea of 'tzedakah' which is charitable giving.   Sukkot is a special time for Jews and as part of this festival they remember those who are poor by giving meals and shelter and donating money.  We decorated an etrog (citrus fruit) and lulav ( three kinds of leaves) which are shaken together to symbolise sweetness and goodness and wrote about some things that Jewish people might do to care for others. We also enjoyed another PE lesson with Sam on Monday.  This was indoors as it was too wet to be outside.  This tested our special awareness as there was limited amounts of space for us to move around in.  In our Music lesson this week we were learning to play our instruments on command with a 'conductor' as well as exploring the dynamics of the instruments.

Puffin star of the week this week was: WILLIAM!  William has been following Embleton Expects and being such a good buddy / role model to the rest of the class.  Well done William.

Big Maths promotions this week went to: FEDIR!  Keep up the good work!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
