This week we have once again been focusing on adjectives but this week we got the thesauruses out and looked for synonyms.  This is to help us make our writing much more interesting.  Hopefully we will be able to use some of these synonyms next week.

In maths the year 2s have been using their jigsaw numbers to 10 to help them with addition.  The year 1s have been using their problem solving and reasoning skills to help them complete some part whole questions.

On Monday, with Sam, we practised our throwing and catching skills them played a modified game of rounders.   We did some more internet safety in computing this week and learnt a song to help us remember how to stay safe.  We were also looking at rhythm in music.  We tried to clap a steady rhythm whilst keeping the pulse.  We then tried to recreate this on the glockenspiels.  In history this week we were talking about ways in which we can find out about the past.  We talked about eye witnesses and who they were, we talked about sources of evidence and how reliable these were.  We also talked about how we could interview people to collect information.  So we thought of some questions to turn into a questionnaire to take home for homework in order to find out about our Mum’s, Dad’s, grandparents etc holidays.  We will then use the information collected to compare our own holiday’s to people’s holidays in the past.  In RE we listened to the Christian creation story and thought about all the beautiful and amazing things in nature. At the end of the Christian creation story God says that the world and everything in it ‘is very good’.  We wondered if God would still feel that way if he looked at the world today.  We did an activity called ‘Conscience Alley’.  We stood in two lines, one side said good things about the world today and the other line said bad things about the world today. Someone walked down the middle of the alley while we said our ideas.

STAR OF THE WEEK this week goes to ELISE.  Elise has been using her Christian value of perseverance this week and not giving up when she encountered problems in her maths lessons.  She just went back and tried again.  Well done Elise.

Lots of promotions in Big Maths this week – in fact there were 8 altogether.  They were for BENJI, ELISE, ARCHIE, PENNY and double promotions for EMILIE and FEDIR.  Super job everyone!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
